Fire department handles number fire calls on Tuesday
Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - It was an extraordinary day Tuesday for the number of Capital City Fire Rescue ambulance calls.

Assistant Chief Ed Quinto said they had 25 EMS calls.  He said they were fortunate that they had enough ambulances.  Between their four ambulances and two fire trucks, he said they were able to handle all the calls.

Quinto said the calls just kept coming and coming. As soon as one ambulance was freed up, another call would come in.

The fourth ambulance is brought on with the start of the cruise ship season.

Despite the busy day, the chief says calls so far this year are down from last year's number at this point.
