Governor's budget challenge nets response from minority senators

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - There's response from members of the State Senate Minority to the Governor's suggestion that the Legislature put forth alternatives to the budget he's proposed.

The response came during a press availability Monday.

Nome Senator Donny Olson said the Governor essentially said its time for the Legislature to get serious about putting together a budget.  Olson turned the table on the Governor by saying, "It's time for the Governor to go ahead and get serious about putting together a reasonable budget.

Olson said the Governor needs to look for additional revenues to pay for the services needed by Alaskans.  In addition to being unreasonable, Olson described the Governor's spending plan as "reckless."

Fairbanks Senator Scott Kawasaki referred to the Governor's  spending plan as "just window dressing."
