Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - The massive snow dump might have let up, but now the roads in Juneau and Southeast are a now a slushy and sometimes icy mess.
According to the National Weather Service in Juneau, we received 17.1 inches of snow so far this month, which is 8.6 inches more than this time last year.
Juneau Police Department Sergeant Brian Dallas has some advice for those out on the roadways.
"Always allow for extra time to commute to where you are going," Sgt. Dallas said. "If you don't have to go out, don't. It will give road crews a chance to catch up with existing snow conditions and the rain that is coming down and watch the side of the roads as the slush will pull you off the side of the road. Give some room between you and the cars in front of you and watch for obstacles in the roadway."
Remember to drive safely and always use your headlights in bad weather conditions.
