Kristy Germain Named Assistant Principal of the Year in Alaska

Juneau, AK (KINY) - Quite an honor has come the way of Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School Assistant Principal Kristy Germain.

Juneau School District Superintendent Mark Miller filled us in while a guest on Action Line.

"She was named the Assistant Principal of the Year for all of the state of Alaska by the Administrative Council. It's quite an honor. Kristy’s been with us for quite a while; she's a mom of a middle school student and her husband actually works at Harborview."

"She's just an awesome administrator, does a great job keeping those middle school kids in class and in-line, which is not an easy thing to do with middle school students. I believe there's a special place in heaven for people who work with middle schoolers for a living. That's just a group that either you’re wired to work with or will drive you absolutely nuts and for anybody who has a 12 or 13 year old out there, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about."

Mrs. Germain graduated with a B.A. History, Political Science minor, from the College of Idaho and an M.A. Teaching from University of Alaska Southeast and an M.Ed. Leadership from the University of Alaska Southeast. She taught for ten years in the Juneau School District before becoming an Administrator.
