Juneau, Alaska (KINY) John Lincoln was given the oath of offices moments ago to become the latest Alaska State House member.
Lincoln, a Democrat from Kotzebue, was appointed last week by Gov. Bill Walker and confirmed by House Democrats.
Lincoln had 'undeclared' as his political party as late as January 22. By Alaska law, the person appointed to a vacancy must be of the same political party as his predecessor.
In this case, Dean Westlake resigned in December after disturbing allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct came to light.
Lincoln is a vice president for NANA Regional Corp. He also is a pilot and has worked as an EMT for the Kotzebue Volunteer Fire Department, according to a bio from Gov. Walker's office.
