Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Cathy Munoz has served three terms on the CBJ Assembly and four terms in the Alaska House.
Cathy Munoz is a life-long Alaskan and has been involved in family-owned businesses for much of her life. She and her husband Juan operate Rie Munoz Ltd., an art publication and distribution business here in Juneau. It features the work of her mother-in-law and beloved Alaskan artist Rie Munoz.
Munoz served as Chairwoman of the CBJ Finance Committee while on the Assembly.
In the legislature, Munoz served as Chairwoman of the Community and Regional Affairs Committee and was a member of the House Finance Committee. In that role, she also helped review budgets for the Departments of Environmental Conservation, the Alaska Court System and the University of Alaska.
Munoz also has prioritized workforce development during her career. She helped to secure funds for the University of Alaska Southeast and its mine training program and worked to bring the first mining simulator to the University.
She also sponsored legislation that gives companies a tax credit for contributions made to vocational education programs for students.
