New Judge named for Sitka

Jude Pate was named Superior Court Judge in Sitka

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) Governor Bill Walker appointed Jude Pate as Superior Court Judge in Sitka

The Governor filled three judicial vacancies, Michael Logue of Anchorage to the Anchorage District Court and Andrew Peterson of Anchorage to the Anchorage Superior Court.  Walker said he was very impressed with the talent shown by these appointees, “The people of Alaska are privileged to have a great wealth of legal talent in this state, and I am grateful for all the applicants that came forward,” Governor Walker said. “Serving in Alaska’s judicial branch requires deep knowledge of our laws, and great respect for the many different backgrounds and cultures in the Last Frontier. I am confident that Jude, Andrew, and Michael will serve Alaskans well, and make excellent additions to their respective court benches.”

Pate has lived in Alaska for 24 years.  He was born in Germany where his father was stationed in the Army.  He moved to Sitka in 1993 and competed a B.S in journalism from the University of Kansas and a Jurist Doctorate from Lewis & Clark Northwestern School of Law.  He has served as assistant public defender in Sitka since 2006.  He also is a former counsel for the Sitka Tribe of Alaska.
