Person rescued after falling through the ice

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) The incident occurred shortly after 2 pm Sunday at Mendenhall Lake near the Glacier.

A good Samaritan rescued the person who fell into the lake.

Capital City fire rescue said the bystander was nearby when the incident occurred and had a throw rope he used to pull the
person from the water.

The ambulance crew helped the person warm up and evaluated the victim. They were not transported to the hospital.  The name of the individual was not released.

Capital city fire rescue advises the ice thickness on lakes is not consistent and you should use extreme caution when walking on ice
covered water.
