Juneau, AK (KINY) - Volunteers and donations are needed for the 7th Juneau Project Homeless Connect on Wednesday, Jan. 24th.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center and is organized by the Juneau Coalition on Housing & Homelessness.
Almost 50 service providers will be at the event to give immediate assistance and resources to those in need. This includes things like haircuts, foot massages, health and wellness services like flu shots, veteran support, housing assistance, Permanent Fund Dividend registration, and more. The event is free and open to all; breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Donations of new white and wool socks, hats and gloves are being accepted. Items can be brought to the Gruening Park Apartments.
Those interested in volunteering either that morning or the afternoon, should contact Chief Housing Officer Scoot Ciambor at firstname.lastname@example.org
Another goal of this event is to participate in the annual Point in Time Homeless Count, which sees communities across the country survey those that are experiencing homelessness. That count is organized by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and used for federal funding decisions and homeless assistance program development.
