Kuskokwim, Alaska (KINY) Pete Kaiser became a four time winner of the Kuskokwim 300 this weekend.
Kaiser won for the fourth consecutive time despite warm weather that made conditions tough on the mushers. Organizers had to alter the race route when parts of the Kuskokwim River did not freeze this winter.
Kaiser won $25,000 for his efforts. The total purse was $150,000.
The tradition route calls for the mushers to race 300 miles across the Kuskokwim River from Bethel to Aniak and back. This year they ran two laps to the halfway point and back.
