Village shut down for five hours

St. Mary's, Alaska (KINY) A squabble between a boyfriend and girlfriend led to the village being placed on lock down, Alaska State Troopers said.

The argument apparently resulted in gunfire around 11 pm on December 5, the Trooper Dispatch said.  The report stated Troopers received a report that Jason Johnson, 32, had assaulted his girlfriend and fired gun shots from the residence.

Eventually Johnson surrendered to authorities peacefully.  The victim, a 20 year old female, was not seriously injured.  Johnson was charged with assault in the third degree and three counts of assault in the fourth degree.  He was held on $5,000 bail at the Mt. Village jail.

Troopers said alcohol played a role in the incident.
