Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Yes for Salmon ballot sponsors, volunteers, community leaders, and supporters will gather at the Division of Elections at 7:30 this morning to deliver Yes for Salmon Ballot Initiative petition booklets signed by an estimated 40,000 Alaskans.
The deadline for delivering those signatures to the DOE in order to appear on this year's election ballot was today. The event was expected to be festive with a crowd of volunteers, supporters and spokespeople on hand. The group planned to hold a parade of people holding boxed petition booklets to carry into the DOE office.
Yes for Salmon is a diverse group of Alaska-based individuals, businesses and organizations that wants to have a ballot initiative passed that updates Alaska law that governments development in salmon habitat.
